“Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.”

Henry David Thoreau
Mark Idol

Mark Idol discovered his passion for counseling during his years as a pastor. Prior to entering full-time ministry, Mark felt compelled to provide comfort to those in pain and nurture hope in those who were struggling. This calling led him on a journey to offer steadfast support to people navigating life's many challenges. He dedicated meaningful one-on-one time to congregants, ensuring they felt genuinely heard and deeply cared for. This profound connection inspired Mark to delve deeper into the study and art of counseling, seeking to offer even more robust assistance to individuals, couples, and youth facing the struggles of life. Mark stated that learning from and working with the team at Integrative Counseling Institute has expanded both his understanding of God as well as his understanding of providing counseling care. With 20 years of marriage to his beloved Melody, they share the joyful chaos of raising three spirited teenage boys who keep them on their toes. Together, they have walked through some incredibly painful seasons and have experienced firsthand how integrative counseling can help bring about healing. Mark's adventurous spirit has been a constant throughout his life, finding delight in activities such as snowboarding, mountain biking, wakeboarding, skateboarding, and surfing from a young age. Currently, he revels in the thrill of riding his Triumph motorcycle through the picturesque farmlands surrounding Silverton, the place he calls home and the focal point of his pastoral counseling work.
